Project #4
Edward Weston was an American photographer in the 20th century. He know for being one of the most influential American photographers and on the most innovative photographers. He is also called a “master” of 20th century photography. He took pictures of a wide set of subjects. Weston took pictures of landscape, portraits, still life, and many more. Some of his most known work was taken of trees and rocks near where he lived, in California. He was born in 1886 and knew that he wanted to be a photographer at a young age. He started taking pictures in Chicago, where he lived throughout his childhood. He spent the majority of his free time taking pictures. Once he felt confident is his work, he submitted his pictures to a magazine called Camera and Darkroom. to When he was around 60 years old, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and stopped taking pictures. The magazine published one of his photos named Spring, Chicago. This was the first publication of his work. During this time, he moved to California. Then a year later, he moved to Illinois to enroll in the Illinois College of Photography to gain more experience. Years later, he then moved back to California. His work he did in California is where he did most of his finest work. He started his work with up close photography such as rocks, vegetables shells. I do enjoy his work. I like the feeling/ vibe they give off. The majority of his pictures that I have seen are black and white. I feel that they show an eerie feeling. He doesn't have a huge variety of subject matter but he makes each picture different from the other. Each picture has something special. Landscape: Project 3 Chris Faust is a local Minneapolis, Minnesota photographer who takes pictures at night. He is a very good photographer. He took his photographs at night because he didn't like the distractions didn’t help emphasize the subject matter. He does printmaking in his free time at his house. Many of his photographs are in black and white. Faust’s photographs are unique and many of them show movement. The movement in his pictures make your eyes travel towards the subject. Ansel Adams was a photographer from California, who photographed nature and the wilderness. He emphasized nature is the majority of his pictures.. He was an environmentalist photographer and was extremely good at both. He believed in power of the human kind living through harmony. His photographs showed wide depth of fields. His pictures are in black and white, taken in in the American West. |
